Ladies
Bloomers
Invented by Amelia Bloomer
and introduced in 1848,
according to the books,
although drawers existed
before then. Drawers/ bloomers
were worn crotch less for
easier bathroom use. That way
you wouldn't have to pull your
drawers down, making it easier
to have your hands free for
the rest of your clothing.
With our pair there is a
"V" smooth shape
waist band in front. The legs
in front are split from the
"V" down and around
where they are sewn unto the
waist band in back that is
gathered with white gorgon
ribbon for tying to your
comfort. There is one row of
lace at the bottom of the
legs.
Drawers are long (ankle
length) up till 1863 when the
new fashion came into play,
especially for the Union
states. Then from 1863 on was
what is called the short
drawers / bloomers, (slightly
below the knee cap).
If you wish a set of tucks or
more more lace added e-mail
for the additional cost.
Materials available are white
cotton, cotton blend that we
